How to use this time card
- For each day, enter when you clocked in and out. On a phone, tap a box and pick the time.
- Add your unpaid break in minutes, like a 30 minute lunch.
- Or keep the page open at work: tap Clock in now when you start and Clock out now when you leave.
- Your total, overtime and pay update as you go and stay visible at the bottom.
Example: in at 8:30 AM, out at 5:00 PM, 30 minute lunch. That is 8 hours 30 minutes minus 30 minutes: 8:00, or 8.00 in decimal. Five days like that make 40:00.
Sharing and printing
Use Copy summary to paste your week into a text or email, Download CSV to open it in Excel or Google Sheets, Share link to send the whole card, or Print for a clean paper time card with your name and dates.
Minutes to decimal hours
Payroll often wants hours as a decimal: divide the minutes by 60. 15 minutes is 0.25, 30 is 0.50, 45 is 0.75.
Overtime
Under the US Fair Labor Standards Act, non-exempt employees earn at least 1.5 times their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek. States like California add daily overtime: see the overtime calculator.
Rounding
Many time clocks round punches to the nearest 5, 6 (a tenth of an hour) or 15 minutes. Pick the same rounding as your employer in Settings to match your paycheck.
Questions
How do I calculate hours worked with a lunch break?
Subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time, then subtract the unpaid break. 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM is 8 hours 30 minutes; minus a 30 minute lunch it is 8 hours, or 8.00 in decimal.
How do I count a night shift that ends after midnight?
If the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, the shift ended the next day, so 24 hours are added to the clock-out time before subtracting. These calculators do it for you and mark the shift with a moon.
Is my data saved?
Yes, in this browser on this device only, so you can come back during the week and keep going. Nothing is sent to a server unless you share a link yourself.
Can I use it for a week that starts on Sunday?
Yes. Open Settings and choose Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week. The dates on each row follow your choice.
