How to use this printable time card
- Choose one week or two weeks, and whether you take a lunch break you clock out for.
- Add your name, the company and the first day of the pay period if you like. The dates fill in by themselves; leave them empty for a reusable blank card.
- Press Print or save as PDF. In the print window, pick your printer, or choose Save as PDF to keep a file.

How to fill in a paper time card
- Write each time as it happens, with AM or PM, like 8:30 AM. Filling it in from memory at the end of the week is how mistakes happen.
- For a lunch you clock out for, write when it started in Lunch out and when you came back in Lunch in.
- Total each day in hours and minutes, then add the days for the week total.
How to total the hours
For each day: (lunch out minus time in) plus (time out minus lunch in). 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM is 4:00, and 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM is 4:30, so the day is 8:30, or 8.50 in decimal. The time card calculator does the adding for you, including night shifts, and can print a filled in card too.
Weekly or biweekly?
Use the weekly card if you are paid every week or just want one sheet per week. Use the biweekly card for a two week pay period: overtime is still counted for each week on its own, which is why the card has a total for each week. The overtime calculator works it out.
What a time card should show
Under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, employers must keep a record of the hours non-exempt employees work each workday and each workweek. A signed card with daily times and totals is a simple way to keep your own copy, which helps if a paycheck ever looks wrong.
